Discount Grocer ALDI Hosts Miami Lakes Job Fair

The discount grocery store chain Aldi will host a job fair from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. today at Don Shula’s Hotel, 6842 Main Street, Miami Lakes.

The chain, which has been expanding in South Florida, is looking for cashiers, shift managers and manager trainees for the store.

Cashier jobs pay $10 an hour; the shift manager jobs earn $13.50 an hour; and the manager trainees $20 an hour.

Part time staff working at least 20 hours a week receive full health insurance, dental coverage and 401K retirement benefits.

Job requirements:

•   Must be 18 years or older to apply

•   High School Diploma or GED required

•   Must be available to work anytime between 6am and 10pm

•   Retail experience preferred

•   Management experience preferred for Manager Trainees

•   Drug Screening and background check

•   Ability to lift 45 pounds required

ALDI is also able to keep prices low by selling private label brands meaning the brands are specific to those stores.

Discount grocery stores are typically smaller, have fewer brand names and shoppers bag their own groceries.  While they may not have fancy bakeries or deli counters, shoppers can find items like canned vegetables for under 50-cents.

There are over 1,000 ALDI stores in 31 states, from Kansas to the East Coast.  ALDI stores carry about 1,400 regularly-stocked items, including fresh meat, and, in certain locations, beer and wine. Though the original ALDI concept has been modified somewhat to accommodate our ever-changing tastes and preferences, the core concept remains: “honest to goodness savings.”
